We are looking for motivated individuals with a calling to serve the public, who care about people and wish to make an impact on their safety.

Motor Vehicle Enforcement is currently in the process of changing our hiring process and will conduct our current process alongside the Department of Public Safety. All Motor Vehicle Enforcement applicants will need to meet the minimum qualifications and physical fitness standards of the Department of Public Safety - Trooper II classification.

Hiring process

All Motor Vehicle Enforcement peace officer applicants/candidates must meet all Trooper II Minimum Hiring Qualifications of the Department of Public Safety and Physical Fitness Standards to qualify.


Post Hiring-required Training for New Motor Vehicle Officers

  • Field training program
  • Department of Public Safety Basic Training Academy (20 weeks)
  • Commercial vehicle driver inspection certification (1 week)
  • Commercial vehicle inspection certification (1 week)
  • Hazardous materials inspection certification (1 week)
  • Bulk package inspection certification (optional) (1 week)
  • Passenger vehicle (Bus/Motor Coach) inspection certification (optional) (1 week)
  • CMV inspection certification classes
