FHWA Emergency Relief Program

Attention icon August 10, 2020 Storm (Derecho) Specific Event - Due to the nature of this storm event being different than the typical flood events occurring in Iowa, Iowa DOT has worked with FHWA to create this eligible items of work clarification, specific to ER funding options for this event. All existing guidance is still relevant and should be followed. This document just goes into a bit more detail about the common occurrences and questions associated with this storm such as impact to regulatory and warning signs, other street signs, traffic signals, and street lights along ER eligible routes.

Please go to the Iowa DOT Emergency Relief webpage to login and begin the DDIR process. Completing and submitting your damage estimation is the single most important thing you can do to help determine whether there is enough damage to request funding under the FHWA's Emergency Relief program.
